2022 Fellows Program

DEADLINE:
Date for Consideration by 11:59 pm (EDT) on June 10, 2022

Introducing the Future Directions Fellow Program

On the path to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, we expect to encounter both opportunities and challenges. We at the Forum welcome the opportunity to offer you the most engaging, intimate learning environment we have ever created. We also expect that many will encounter challenges with finding the resources to travel to the Forum. Thus, 2022 marks the launch of the Future Directions Fellows Program. This program offers a select group of attendees presenting their research at the Forum access to opportunities central to their professional development:
  • Funding to offset costs to attend the Forum, including travel, registration, and lodging.
  • Pre-Forum workshop with the Program Chair on leveraging storytelling tools when presenting your work.
  • Priority or early access at the Forum to our tailored consultations, where attendees receive personalized advice on ongoing projects, manuscripts, grant applications, and graduate school applications.

Program Criteria for 2022

For 2022, the Future Directions Fellows Program will select up to 20 Fellows from the pool of attendees who submitted (a) an abstract to the Forum and (b) their current CV. All attendees whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at the Forum will be eligible for this program. However, we are particularly interested in Fellows who:
  • Demonstrate a financial need that impacts their ability to travel and attend the Forum.
  • Share an identity with one or more groups that have been historically under-represented in academia (e.g., racial/ethnic, sexual, physical ability, economic status, first-generation college student).
  • Fit our criteria for “early career scientist,” namely trainees in degree-granting programs, post-doctoral training, or fellowship programs who WILL NOT be placed in a full-time academic position by Fall 2022.
