Picture
The Forum provides attendees with professional development training that consists of live, interactive workshops on such topics as scientific writing style and productivity, peer review, and preparing training grant applications.  In our last onsite 2019 Forum and our last virtual 2021 Forum Evaluation surveys, our  attendees indicated that the Forum was a success! 100% in both 2019 and 2021 of our survey respondents said “yes” to whether they would recommend to their colleagues that they attend the Forum!   Here are some comments from past attendees:

“I think the idea of developing early career investigators is very innovative for a journal and shows JCCAP's commitment to the future of the field.”

“The best psychology conference I've ever attended! Exceeded my expectations at every level and left me with a reignited desire for clinical psychologicalscience.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“In the last 3 days since the forum ended, I have recommended this conference to at least 5 people. It was so nice to discuss current research in child clinical psychology with top researchers while also getting top-notch career advice from those same people.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“The JCCAP Future Directions Forum was an enriching experience for me as a post doc. The ability to receive mentorship from leaders in the field on topics like writing clarity, grant preparation, and setting up a lab was invaluable.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“The unique aspect of this conference is the small, intimate feel - a great way to practice networking skills and engage deeply with the content presented with peers involved in similar work.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“The JCCAP Future Directions Forum is a fantastic professional development opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and early career professionals! They focus on critical skills that you need to learn to be successful in academia, but NEVER have a class on or learn directly. The speakers are also incredibly engaging, and the environment as a whole is very welcoming and friendly. Moreover, the conference space is GORGEOUS!”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“This was an excellent forum for early career professionals like myself. The forum recognizes the efforts of professionals new to the field, and ensures opportunities for guidance to help us continue to grow in our fields.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“Limited number of posters at a time which allowed for a more engaged audience. Large and electronic format of the posters was convenient and viewer-friendly.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“The workshops were accessible and interesting - I know I will use the skills we discussed in my work (especially my writing) for years to come! I also appreciated the wide range of early career professionals, from post-bacs and graduate students to post-docs and assistant professors.”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“An essential conference for any youth mental health researcher-in-training to attend!”

--2018 JCCAP Attendee

“The atmosphere was inviting and the opportunities for conversation were plentiful.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“Electronic poster format was super easy, didn’t have to worry about the tube.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“LOVE LOVE LOVE the electronic version of the posters. So much easier and cost effective. I have told EVERYONE about this. I also like the new addition of the QR code for scanability. As always, I really like the live tweet/facebook so I can share my research with other friends on social media.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“I really liked the electronic format of the posters and that fewer were presented at a time. That provided an opportunity to get more out of the poster sessions, both as the presenter and as a member of the audience.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“I liked that the sessions were short and that not many people presented at once so you could actually see all the posters and talk to the authors.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“Since five presenters present research at a time, participants are provided the space for a substantial amount of people to see and discuss their research.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“I would highly recommend this conference to graduate students at all stages of their program! It is designed to really provide you with tangible and relevant skills that you can use and the smaller environment allowed attendees to meet and network with other students and faculty in meaningful ways.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“The Future Directions Forum is an amazing opportunity for both young and experienced researchers. Participants are provided the opportunity to work with experienced researchers in both small group and individual settings.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee

“I loved the pocket labs this year. Having new eyes on my dissertation project from researchers unfamiliar with my domain of study generated new ideas and approaches to my research questions.”

--2019 JCCAP Attendee
